Golf
Cyprus is rapidly becoming a golfer’s paradise with the perfect climate in which to play. Some lovely course included:
Tsada Golf Course
This course was designed by Donald Steel and completed in 1994. The course was the first grass course to be built in Cyprus and is ideally located being on the south east corner of the island and just twenty minutes away from Paphos town centre. Tsada golf course sits in a pretty valley 550 metres above sea level ensuring a cool breeze hits the course throughout the summer months. Tsada is the oldest golf club in Cyprus. The course itself winds through olive groves and fruit orchards, hence putting an emphasis on accurate shot making. It is not a manicured course, but its nature and location makes it much more appealing then others of its kind. There are some superb views across the island from the course and its setting is simply gorgeous. The course is set in the grounds of a 12th century Monastery.
The course also has an elegant clubhouse with restaurant, bar, changing rooms with shower for both ladies and gents. A tennis court and outdoor swimming pool are also available for after the game or to non-golfers. The golf course is of championship standard, has 18 holes and is a par 72, with the course being 6600 metres long. There are many facilities on offer including a driving range, 2 putting greens, pitching/chipping area, practice bunkers and a golf clinic. Also available to rent are buggies, electric and manual trolleys, lockers and golf clubs and balls.
Aphrodite Hills Golf Course
This course was designed by acclaimed course architect, Cabell B. Robinson. This took five years to design and build and was officially opened in November 2002. It is situated in a stunning location near Paphos overlooking the Mediterranean. The golf course takes its name from the birthplace of Aphrodite which it overlooks. Aphrodite Hills is surrounded by a protected forest with challenging fairways including lakes, olive and carob trees; most holes have a view of the sea. The natural topography is gentle, but there is enough movement to give each hole a distinct personality. The course features pot bunkers and has generous fairways of lush Bermuda grass and large tiered greens of American creeping grass. The greens are actually very spacious and make a generous target for approach shots, in saying this, most of the greens are undulating. No matter how many times you play the course, there is always a new challenge on offer, not least the required skill to conquer the dramatic holes which run alongside or traverse the dramatic central ravine. An example of this is the 7th hole which has a gorge that separates the tees from the green with a carry of approximately 130 metres. The clubhouse is beautifully configured overlooking the 18th green with the sparkling waters of the Mediterranean below. The restaurant serves a light 5-star a la carte menu with a selection of snacks, grills and a highly recommended Sunday roast. This golf course is of World Class standard and is a par 70, with the course being 6299 metres in length. There are a number of facilities available including a 350 metre practice range, 4 target greens with bunkers, short game practice, 3 academy holes and the first dedicated golf academy in Cyprus on site.

This is located 20km to the east of Paphos and is close to the "Petra tou Romiou" the legendary birthplace of Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love. Secret Valley golf course lies in a scenic valley with beautifully grand mature trees adding to the course's maturity and the wonderfully sculpted natural rock formations offer panoramic views to the golfer. The course itself features lightning quick greens and an imposing mountain backdrop when you are teeing off. The first 9 holes have 4 nice warm-up holes which include two birdie opportunities and an easy dog-leg. However, the last nine holes are a lot more challenging. This course certainly promises players both the beauty of nature and the pleasure of golf. The clubhouse has a wonderful look to it as it has a wooden interior and verandahs which overlook the artificial tropical lakes and the golf course.
